Did you know that books cause hangovers? It's true! How else can I explain why I found myself stumbling into my home at 3 (THREE!) AM after copious amounts of sangria, and then waking at 8 with a pounding head, dry mouth, and queasy stomach? It was all the work of books, people. Be warned.
So, yeah. I'm doing a book club with some girls in my neighborhood, and in actuality it's less about books and more about red red wine. Which is cooler than books, anyhow. We read Nordies at Noon, which is about breast cancer, which is important yet also a major downer, leading us to drown our sorrows in the aforementioned wine. Then the sorrows were gone, and we drowned all our happies, too. Glug, glug, glug. Then we came around here I showed them my little internet home, and of course we then watched and discussed the merits of fucking Matt Damon followed by fucking Ben Affleck, and we were all unanimously in favor. (Sidenote: I am having a hard time NOT watching those videos every chance I get. I might need a support group of some kind. I hope they serve wine.)
And that was my Adventures in Book Club. Hi Steph, and Alisa, and Lani, and Bridget! I hope one of you will remind me to please take 80 preemptive ibuprofen before our next meeting. I'm gonna need 'em.
Well, aside from the depressing book, that sounds like my kind of book club!!
This is the first I'd heard of that book; thought about getting it from the library but I think it would scare me; I have lots of breast cancer in my family and I don't want to jinx myself, ya know??
