As I may have mentioned, I got to interview Mary Pat at My Second Journal. She seems like a fun girl, that Mary Pat. Let's see what she had to say to me...
Q: What are the three things you would grab if your house was on fire, and why?
I'm thinking you don't count people/animals. I would first grab Drew if he was over..and my husband then the cat's and the dog. If it were "things" I would run in the bedroom and grab the Ferjo painting in the bedroom..I guess that is it. Maybe my jewelry box. Other than that it's just stuff. I would like for all of my clothes to burn so I can start over.
Q: I noticed you use a lot of iTunes, and you have eclectic taste in music, much like myself. What's the last actual CD you bought?
WOW..a CD. Like a record on a disc. My husband has purchased some CD's. Me personally I think it was used copy of The Black Eyed Peas, Monkey Business.
Q: Where in the world would you most like to live, and why?
I have a list. Right now I'm happy in where I am. When my parents are gone and Drew is older we will move. Depending on how old we are and where we are financially I would LOVE to have a home in Aruba. I don't know if I would want to live there full time though.
If I'm staying in the states I would love Charleston SC. I've visited a few times and I love the laid backness (that is a word) of the town and the people..the rich culture. The possibility of hurricanes scares the bejeebus out of me.
I would also consider moving to Jerome AZ. We drove from Prescott to Sedona and we stopped at this old Cooper Mining town which I fell in love with. Hubby wants to eventually move to AZ..I'll say OK but we have to go North.
Q: List 5 things you'd like to do this year.
I'd like to get the basement cleaned out. There is so much crap. The stuff needs to be organized..donated..and pitched.
I'd like to go to a comedy club. I keep talking about how I'd like to see Frank Caliendo or something but I just haven't taken the initiative to buy tickets.
I would like to drop at least another ten lbs. I've been at a stand stick and need to get going on this.
I'd like to get hubby to do just the two of us for an evening at Six Flags and ride ALL of the roller coasters.
I would like to get a membership at the Y and start Aqua Aerobics again.
Q: What's your favorite alcoholic beverage?
I don't really drink much anymore. For the pure taste I love a Kettle One Martini, dirty..shaken..2 olives. I haven't had one in YEARS. I also love Pinot Grigio..and White Truck wines.
Q: When did you start blogging and why?
I started blogging in 2005. I read a story on line about Dooce and thought what the heck is a blog? I noticed at google.com there was a blog link. I just hit and and started. I had no idea what I was supposed to do. I started reading random blogs and realized I could do whatever I wanted. I initially thought it would be a good way to vent and be creative at the same time.
Q: You've made reference to an "old" blog, both in posts and in your title. Why did you move your blog/start over?
First off not knowing what I was doing in the beginning I had my first and last name in my URL..not very private. I realized there were people I didn't want in my business that were reading my blog..then sharing information with other people. Not that there was information I didn't want shared I just felt very violated. It was called MP's Journal. I miss it. I had pretty butterflies.. I started off telling my bloggy buddies not to put me on their blogroll...but now it's like screw it.
Q: What's your dream job? Why?
Dream Job.. That is another good question. I guess I have a couple answers. I would LOVE to get paid to blog. I would also LOVE to get paid to either read or watch TV..I guess I would be an entertainment reporter? Hmm. OR I could be Julie your cruise director. I would like to organize events...maybe a party planner..but w/ things like trips to the zoo etc.
Q: If you could rule the world, what would your first item of business be? Why?
FIRST item of business...for the WORLD? Jeeze Robyn.
I think I would do something with the major criminals. These "rebel" leaders in places like Africa that just slaughter innocent women and children..people fighting over blood diamonds..or these Cocaine lords in South America. I would gather ALL of these criminals so the people would be free. Once people are free from these oppressions they will start to have confidence to pick themselves up and help themselves. I think that the UN has services to help these people now, they just aren't free to use them.
Q: You read a lot. I got a lot of great recommendations off your site! What's your favorite book of all time?
You KNOW that isn't a fair question...of all time. Two books come to my brain. One is Dear God, It's Me Margaret and the other is Roots. Very different but both have left a big impression. I can't imagine someone not reading both of those books.
Q: If you could have dinner with any 4 people that ever lived, who would they be? (All at the same table, of course.)
Pope John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, Elizabeth I, Thomas Jefferson. (of course they are all dead)..ALIVE people I would chose Sandra Bullock, Robin Williams, Drew Barrymoore and Tom Hanks.
Q: You mentioned that you are a rule follower. What's your favorite thing you've done that was against the rules?
I guess it would be trespassing. In high school there was a haunted house..really it was. It was called China something..and you had to park in a subdivision then creep up a road to get close. Of course we had been drinking a little before hand which makes my voice louder. I recall that we were in the middle of the road and a security guard/police/or just a car was coming. We made a dive to the side of the road and ended up with my feet in a muddy ditch and chiggers and cuts from the brush. I have to tell you we were NOT caught. That was so invigorating. It must since I can recall the feeling and that was at least 22 years ago.
Q: You like to take pictures. Show us a picture of your favorite space in your home and tell us a little about it. (Not necessarily the prettiest - just your favorite.)
This is by FAR not a very good photograph but you can get the point.
Here is a photo of MY spot on the couch. If I am sitting on this spot on the couch I am loving life. This means I'm in the solitude of my imagination reading a book or I'm watching TV w/ my hubby and/or step son, usually with a dog or cat on my lap and near my feet.
And that's all folks! Thanks, Mary Pat, for sharing with me and my extensive and lovely audience. Head on over to her blog to check out more about her! And if you'd like to know what book to pick up next, she can probably help you out with that.
Meet Mary Pat..She Likes Books...GREAT title :-)
You know with that book question I wanted to give you around 30 of them..

Mary Pat - I knew you might have a hard time with that question... which is exactly why I asked it. I'm having a hard time with it myself.
Hey, I warned you I was hard hitting!
Melissa - thanks for stopping by!
